Privacy PolicyTerms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and Casey Bajec, doing business as Briefd ("Briefd", "we", "us"). They cover your use of Briefd: the daily brief and podcast, the website at briefdnewsletter.com, and the Briefd app for iPhone. By creating an account or using Briefd, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
1. What Briefd is
Briefd writes you a personalized daily brief, and a podcast version of it, from the topics, watchlist, goals and other preferences you give us. Briefs are researched and written with AI (Anthropic's Claude) and delivered by email, on the web and in the app.
2. Not advice
Briefd is an informational briefing. Nothing in Briefd is investment, financial, tax, legal or medical advice, and nothing in it is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security or asset. Watchlist labels describe price action, not what you should do. Make your own decisions, and talk to a qualified professional before acting on anything you read.
3. AI-written content can be wrong
We check market numbers against live data before your brief sends, but AI-written content can still contain errors, omissions or out-of-date information. Briefd is provided for general information only. Check anything important against the original source; most stories link to one.
4. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Briefd. If you're under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission.
- Keep your sign-in email secure. You're responsible for activity on your account.
- Give us an email address you control; that's where your brief and sign-in codes are sent.
5. Subscriptions and billing
- Briefd is a paid subscription, billed monthly at the price shown when you sign up. Payments are processed by Stripe.
- Free trials. Some offers include a free trial. We collect your card at signup and charge it when the trial ends unless you cancel before then.
- Renewal. Your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel.
- Cancelling. Cancel anytime in Settings on briefdnewsletter.com. Your brief continues until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again. Deleting your account (in the app's Settings, or by emailing us) cancels your subscription immediately.
- Refunds. Payments aren't refundable except where the law requires. If something went wrong, email us and we'll make it right where we reasonably can.
- Price changes. We'll email you before any price change takes effect, and you can cancel before it does.
- Team plans. If your organization pays for your seat, your access depends on its subscription, and its admin manages billing.
- If you later subscribe through the App Store, Apple handles that billing and Apple's terms apply to it.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of what you give us: your topics, notes to your editor, goals, check-ins, ratings and sources. You let us use them only to run Briefd for you: to write your brief and podcast, and to improve how Briefd works. See the Privacy Policy for how we handle it.
7. Acceptable use
Don't misuse Briefd. In particular, don't:
- share or resell your brief as a service, or let others use your account;
- try to access other people's accounts or data, or get around security or billing;
- scrape, overload or disrupt our systems, or reverse-engineer the service;
- use Briefd to break the law or infringe anyone's rights.
8. Third-party content and links
Briefs summarize and link to news and other third-party sources. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content. "Ask about this" opens a third-party assistant (ChatGPT), and that service's own terms apply there. Market data, weather and other information come from third-party providers and may be delayed.
9. Our intellectual property
Briefd's software, design, name and logo belong to us. Your subscription gives you a personal, non-transferable right to use Briefd and to read your briefs for your own purposes.
10. Ending your use
You can stop using Briefd and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, misuse the service, or don't pay. Sections 2, 3, 6 and 9–14 continue to apply afterwards.
11. Changes to Briefd and these terms
Briefd is evolving, and features may change. If we change these terms in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and tell you by email before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Briefd after that means you accept the new terms.
12. Disclaimers
Briefd is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and that the service will be accurate, uninterrupted or error-free.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Briefd won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for losses from decisions you make based on Briefd's content. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts in Los Angeles County, California, unless the law where you live gives you a right to bring them elsewhere.
15. The Briefd app and Apple
If you use the Briefd app from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the app. These terms are between you and Briefd, not Apple, and Apple isn't responsible for Briefd or its support.
